Malkov Zii was born on Ord Mantell and worked with the crime syndicate, the Black Sun, as a young man.  His father was a notable smuggler within the organization and was a wanted convict by the empire until his death.  He was believed to have been killed by imperial agents, though no confirmation is available.  His mother was killed in the process, as well. 

After serving as a bounty hunter within the crime syndicate, at age 18 the Mandalorian enlisted in the imperial army and served in the special forces until his disappearance shortly after.
