Jedi Dueling Tournament Feedback

well sure but how many -actual- jedi are even among the lightsiders anymore. Like five in fifty?  And i'm sure it would be easy to even figure out some way to include people that wouldnt normally involve themselves because of some block ic.

Well sure, tournaments are to display who's best, I'm not arguing that.  I'm just saying that's all it seems like it is. 

I guess the general point is, I would much rather be interested in participating in a roleplay setting, dice or no dice emote dueling.   In my opinion it's the best option mainly for the fact that it flexes your mind rather than your mouse button and number keys.   

And sure I'd meet people oocly, but I'd much rather be roleplaying than in an OOC tournament.   Like sure it's a great way to interact with people, showing off your dueling skills. And there's nothing wrong with that.   But in my eyes. It would be a lot more interesting to say roleplay out a competition between force users.

At the start of the thread I posted some of what I personally went thru in some of the tourny's i have been in on lowca and sunrunner on my toons on there,  personally one of the reasons i have not signed up, but i will probably come to watch if nothing is going on is mostly out of boredom. I have done the pvp thing, and the dueling thing to death.  Now by boredom I do not mean the tournys are boring in any stretch, but after 5 tournys on lowca (jedi)and 4 on sunrunner( any class) it got hella old.   I do wish ya luck on this thou.

I agree, instead of a simple /duel we should turn this into an emote fight so that way people who just like to pretend they're strong can win.  It's an OOC tourney to use the game mechanics, and it's not just about seeing who's better, there's a cash prize and it's set up versus set up.

If you don't want to participate, don't, but do we really have to knock every idea out there we don't like?

No no, you're right, giving feedback in the thread that says "Jedi dueling tournament feedback", and not even hostile feedback, but merely expressing my views is griefing.   I see, of course.

I don't see any griefing. I only see people commenting on why they won't be attending, not going "THIS IDEA SUCKS." I see everyone saying its an interesting idea but not for them.

And I share that mindset. I won't be attending but I wish you guys the best of luck

Yes, this is for feedback.  I have never been in an emote duel or dice duel.  So I have no idea how they would work in a tournament style type of fight.  I am not sure boring would describe these.  Out of the 22 I had on Radiant, you faced the same duelist only a handful of times (depending on various factors). 

The only thing that will tick me off is if someone comes to the tournament and spams heals/buffs/spatial/etc.  Not that I expect that from anyone.  But silly things have happened. 

I always believed that people rely on buffs too much.  If you know your profession inside and out, you can do very well in this tournament.  That is what I suppose I am trying to showcase in these.  The people who know the Jedi profession (Focus and Stance) the best.  They are the ones who will knows the tricks.  So I hope that anyone reading this thread that does not plan on dueling, stop by and watch some of the duels.

I have updated the event posting with the winners.  Congrats to everyone who won and everyone who dueled.  Next month, on Decemeber 26th, the dueling tournament will be held at 9pm eastern.  If anyone has any suggestions to make this more enjoyable, please post them here or in a PM.
